" To us, he's got to be able to throw first. "

" To us, he's got to be able to throw first. If he can run, that's an added dimension. This kid is an excellent passer. "
Bobby Bowden quoted in The Tallahassee Democrat commenting on QB recruit E.J. Manuel

Note to E.J. : Stay far away from Bobby, E.J. If Bobby asks you how you feel about the tight end position, start screaming loudly.

It's the whole XL vs DW again isn't it?? Well, what you should say is "Go to class and study the playbook and don't party every night, or else you might be lucky enough to play tight end."

You're up to speed for the most part on FSU Football but you've been out to lunch on the XLee fiasco. He was never committed to being the starter for FSU, and the coaches knew it and couldn't commit to him. When they relunctantly did, he blew 2 games last season against Wake and Miami. The Wake game due to academics and missing practice!!!

Fact is, he wasted the coach's and team's time by letting the QB controversy fester. He should have just left.

I like Lee and wish him well, but it's proven now the coaches knew what was going on behind the scenes.

I know what Weatherford has done and he has been average at best. That is my point. Apparently Bobby Bowden was not up to speed on Drew.

Hmmm...Lee wasn't an option and then Dvo was playing ball and now not making the grades. For the past 2 years, there were no other options.

Per Drew, average? He broke the ACC freshman passing record set by a current NFL player. Then a terrible QB coach impacted him. Thereafter, he has played behind an offensive line THAT'S BEEN NON-EXISTENT! How in the world can you expect a QB to be successful when there hasn't been protection or running game?!?!?

The line played the best in the UK game as they have in 2 years and look at the numbers and points Drew put up. Unfortunately, the defense was suspended and gave up 35 points.

No, Drew isn't the best QB to ever play at FSU but given what he's had to work with (no OL, drop balls, players taking plays off, backs not hitting the holes, etc...) he's done very well in my opinion. He had 2 picks all year with no protection. Wow.

Finally, I wish some of the players had 1/2 the heart of Drew Weatherford. That said, I hope Ponder is the starter this year so we can get 2 out of him. If it's Drew, look for him to have a great year with a good line and finally some backs that won't be dancing.

PS - I enjoy your blog.
