    Noles Get Committment Number 22

The Noles picked up their 22nd committment for 2008 when David Spurlock verbally committed to FSU during his visit this weekend. Spurlock is a 6'5" 287 pound offensive guard who was named to the Tennessee Super 44.

He is from Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro,Tennessee which is a big time Tennessee high school football program that has only lost 4 games in the last four years. FSU has not had a player from there although Riverdale's helmet is exactly like the Noles and their traditions bear a striking resemblance to those of FSU.

Spurlock expressed only quite recently an interest in FSU. Rick Trickett who recruited him was impressed by the game film on him. He fits into the mold of what Trickett is looking for in an offensive lineman. He benches 300 pounds, squats 455 pounds, and cleans 330 pounds. Spurlock in 2007 graded out at 93 percent and had 68 pancake blocks. He also finished as the runner-up for Tennessee's Class 5A Mr. Football Lineman.

The schools he was interested in were Colorado, N.C. State, North Carolina and Louisville. I have watched a few game tapes of him and he is a big physical offensive lineman who likes to put guys on the ground and who holds his block. He should be a great asset to the 2008 recruiting class. Spurlock is only the second OL who has committed so far for 2008.
