My View: Jeff Bowden Resignation Only The Beginning

The announcement that Jeff Bowden had resigned was somewhat of a shock. Not that he should not have resigned. It was surprising because he and Bobby Bowden had shown a clear disdain for legitimate critcism from everyone. The fans didn't know what they were talking about and should just shut up. Former players didn't know anything. Sports analysts and others were clueless. The only ones that had any wisdom were Bobby Bowden and his son. Why, he had even said that Jeff Bowden was one of the best offensive coordinators in the country.

In my opinion, this is just the beginning. There is a lot wrong with this program. We see great athletes that are recruited to come to Florida State who are not being developed to their full potential. The quarterback position is one of the salient examples of this. We also see a team that cannot run the ball and we all know that starts with an offensive line. Where is the coaching in all of this?

Bobby Bowden does not seem to have the vision to make the needed changes that are necessary. He was not going to fire his son. Period. He probably will not make other changes needed unless he is given an ultimatum. This is not likely given the recent comments of T.K. Wetherell.

It is time for change and the Jeff Bowden resignation is just a small part of that change. Let's hope there is someone within the program that has the guts and the vision to do what is right.
