Speculation is rampant about who else will get the proverbial axe after the Noles 6-6 season. Since Bobby Bowden is apparently immune, then there are several other coaches whose heads are probably on the chopping block. One of those is quarterbacks coach Daryl Dickey.
Daryl Dickey enters his sixth season as the Florida State quarterbacks coach in 2006. Dickey, who played quarterback at Tennessee, had spent one season in Tallahassee as a volunteer assistant in 1989 before making the return trip back to FSU over a decade later in 2001 to coach the quarterbacks.
You have to ask yourself what has happened to the quarterback position at Florida State? Once a strong position, it is now rife with controversy. Rix, Weatherford, and Lee were all talented athletes when they came to FSU. We continully see the quartebacks making the same mistakes and not really improving significantly. Responsibility for their lack of improvement has to fall on the quartebacks coach. Do I think he should go? I do because I do not see the kind of improvement in the quarterbacks that it takes to compete nationally.
