Mickey Andrews has been the one positive constant throughout most of Bobby Bowden's time at FSU. His defense has been made up of players who play their hearts out every game. There is no giving up for "Mickey's Boys." Mickey Andrews has not been given nearly enough credit for building FSU's football program into a national powerhouse.
Today's game against Virginia is just another example of how a defense is supposed to play. Given the injuries on defense, Andrews has still managed to field a formidable defensive unit. Bobby Bowden had better be thanking his lucky stars that Andrews has stayed at FSU. Without Andrews, Bowden's success would have been less than it is.
Andrews is a tough taskmaster who has the respect of the players who play for him. They know that he knows what he is talking about and they are motivated to play hard for him. Too bad that is not the case for other coaches.
