Gator QB Tim Tebow completed 17 of 27 passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns, ran eight times for 41 yards and led the Blue team to a 27-21 victory over Orange in Florida's spring game Saturday.
Tebow showed leadership, poise and plenty of passing skills - giving the defending national champions hope as they try to rebuild following the loss of 15 starters.
"He's ready to go," coach Urban Meyer said. "Tim Tebow is ready to go play quarterback at Florida."
The idea was for the Alabama football team to be able to focus on its responsibilities, regardless of the conditions.
With that in mind, coach Nick Saban held his team's second scrimmage of the spring Saturday in heavy rain, while also spending a significant portion of it on various, game-like situations.
"I personally think we should make it our advantage, whatever the circumstances are," Saban said. "If it's raining outside and we're playing on a bad field, that should be to our advantage. That's the mindset. Hopefully we made some progress in that area."
The UAB football team wrapped up its 2007 spring drills Saturday, and while Neil Callaway and the fans in attendance saw some good things on the Blazers' practice field, the head coach saw some areas that caused him concern.
"It was kind of a sloppy performance on both sides," said Callaway. "Offensively, we had way too many turnovers, a few picks and a couple fumbles. Defensively, we had way too many big plays given up. If we're going to win ballgames, we've got to eliminate those things. So, I was really disappointed in those two areas."
