Noles Hire Kerns From "Cradle Of Equipment Managers"

Miami University of Ohio has long been known as the "Cradle of Coaches." If that is the case, observers are saying that Marshall High in Missouri should be called the "Cradle of Equipment Managers."

At one time, three Marshall grads were working in that capacity in the NFL. The most senior of that group was recently hired by Florida State University. Darin Kerns, Marshall High Class of 1984 who worked in the NFL for 18 years is now in a similar position for the Noles.

Kerns most recently worked at the University of Minnesota where he introduced Riddell's Head Impact Technology System. Using sensors inside the helmet, all contact is automatically recorded by computer and used to assess potential concussive effects of hits.
