The Tampa Tribune summed up the Noles loss to Miami succinctly when it said that "...the Noles collapsed." Michael McGuffee wrote that "... the Hurricanes mixed a successful running game with an array of sideline passes to advance 83 yards in only 1:30 for the go-ahead score."
The Miami Herald stated the obvious when it wrote that despite 366 yards and 19 first downs, the Seminoles managed just one TD on offense- when Lee scored on a 5-yard bootleg at the end of the first quarter. And the painfully obvious was that "... the Seminoles committed five turnovers, which the Hurricanes turned into 17 points."
The News-Press reported that Jimbo Fisher was second guessing himself regarding not calling a timeout in the last drive attempt by the Noles. “I probably should’ve called one when he(Lee)threw the ball in the ground and maybe came over and calmed him down a little bit,” Fisher said.
The Winston-Salem Journal puts the Nole's loss in all too painful perspective. "Florida State, which won 71 of its first 73 ACC games after beginning league play in 1992, has now lost 10 of its last 14 regular-season games against ACC opponents. And Coach Bobby Bowden, with 12 ACC titles and two national championships on his resume, is 14-21 lifetime against Miami."
And in what may be the signal of growing discontent, The Florida Times-Union reports this. "After a tough night at the office and a near sleepless night at home, Florida State coach Bobby Bowden couldn't help but notice the large "For Sale" sign on his lawn as he backed out of the driveway Sunday. A prankster had placed the sign on the Bowden yard in the overnight darkness after archrival Miami defeated the Seminoles 37-29 with 13 points in the final 1:15."
