As the Noles were set to begin practice on Thursday, the offensive line would have had no juniors and seniors on the offensive line until the announcement of Joe Tonga joining the team. Tonga who played the past two seasons at Mt. San Antonio Community College in California will give the O line a liitle more depth and experience.
Seems that quite a few Noles added strength this season in the weight room. Offensive linemen Will Furlong (375) and Antwane Greenlee (380), linebacker Kenny Ingram (370) and quarterback Christian Ponder (375) were among many who made improvements in their upper body strength in the offseason.
Freshman Nigel Bradham bench pressed 480 pounds. Other players who did at least 400 in the bench press were tailback Marcus Sims (425), fullback Seddrick Holloway (400), defensive end Kevin McNeil (400), tailback Antone Smith (425) and defensive lineman Kendrick Stewart (460).
Two Noles will be getting their undergraduate degrees on Saturday. Christian Ponder and Myron Rolle will be getting their degrees after only 2 1/2 years. In addition, they will be singing the national anthem although Ponder admits that neither he or Rolle can sing.
