According to published reports, Preston Parker will now be prosecuted for a 2006 petty theft charge in Leon County because his arrest Tuesday in Palm Beach County on a separate charge violated the terms of his diversionary program.
Parker had been arrested Nov. 5, 2006 by Tallahassee police after he tried to steal a DVD from the Best Buy on Apalachee Parkway, according to Leon County records. The DVD was valued at $9.99. He was placed in a diversionary program at that time.
The State Attorney’s Office will now prosecute Parker on that charge, starting with an arraignment set for May 20.
