Hawkins Does Paintball And Harvin Has "Aggravating" Injury

Saying his football players needed to regain their legs after a week of two-a-days, Colorado coach Dan Hawkins canceled Tuesday's only scheduled workout. Replacing the practice was a trip to a paintball center. "They've worked really hard, they really have," Hawkins said. "That doesn't mean you back off of them. (But) you've got to be smart and temper it a little bit.

Alabama head coach Nick "The Liar" Saban was somewhat critical of Alabama's defense -- specifically its poor tackling -- following Saturday's 92-play scrimmage. On Tuesday, Saban said he was pleased with the way the defense has responded in the three practices following Saturday's session.

"I think we made a lot of improvement," Saban said. "I think we slowed down a little bit. ... I think this is not unusual relative to starting out with a new defensive scheme because on defense you have to make so many adjustments ... and I think when things are pretty simple on offense, our players make pretty good adjustments, but when the offense grows, the multiples for the players on defense to make adjustment also grows.

Florida WR Percy Harvin has been slowed by tendonitis in his right Achilles' tendon, Coach Urban Meyer said Tuesday. Meyer said Harvin's condition isn't serious, but it is aggravating. "[It's] enough that it's a pain in the butt," Meyer said. "It's frustrating for him." An ankle injury suffered against Tennessee hampered Harvin for much of his freshman season, limiting him to 75 offensive touches. Florida's coaching staff would like to keep Harvin healthy and triple that number, because he averaged 11.4 yards a touch last season
