NC State no longer has Chuck "The Chest" at the helm. In his place, fomer Boston College head coach Tom O'Brien takes over for the Wolfpack. O'Brien accumulated an impressive record at BC and became the winningest coach in BC history.
O'Brien has a difficult job in bringing back NC State who was 3-9 last year. One of those three wins came against the Noles and I am am sure that Amato will be pleased to welcome the Wolfpack to Doak this year.
O'Brien is known for a hard hitting defense and a methodical and consistient offense. He is also known for instilling a sense of discipline to a team. As O'Brien states, "It may not happen overnight, but it will happen. It has to be important to them. It's the us mentality instead of the me mentality."
One big reason for State's 3-9 record in 2006 was their minus-11 turnover ratio, 112th. O'Brien's BC team led the ACC at plus-15, with 37 takeaways, compared to only 12 takeaways for State.
NC State has a schedule that is manageable although they have Boston College, FSU, and Miami on the road. The team is a decent team but there are question marks at QB with Daniel Evans.
FSU It's Time Ranking Prediction: NC State will end up on the bottom in the ACC Atlantic at #6.
