This Just In: ESPN is now reporting that the owner of the towing company said that this was just a big misunderstanding. The owner is now saying that Joiner had gotten prior permission to get the car.
No word yet whether the police will continue to press charges.By the way, here is a representative sampling of what Gator fans said regarding the incident:
Thanks Ryan Williams, owner of Watson's Towing... Thanks a lot... you couldn't come up with a better solution than charging Joiner with a ridiculous felony (on a $76 dispute)???
Now if I was a skeptic, I would say that maybe a Bull Gator contacted the towing company and encouraged them to say that it all was a big misunderstanding. If Joiner had arranged to get the car, why did he do it at 5 am in the morning and why did he have to push a gate open? Just asking.

I'm inclined to give the benefit of the doubt on this one and believe it was a misunderstanding, thrown in with a little bit of miscommunication, and a lot of idiocy on the part of Joiner.
Either way, it points to a greater problem given that it has been said that Meyer has been lax with handing out the punishments as of recent. Incidently, Meyer does strike me as a "win at all costs" type of coach who would be willing to look the other way. I may or may not be correct in that assumption.
These guys are getting entirely too much ink for doing stupid things and, if they're not careful, they're going to be looking at a whole team full of Jabar Gaffneys running rampant with SI calling for them to drop their football program much like they did with UM years back.
I agree. I really don't have all the facts. Just what ESPN and The Gainesville Sun are reporting. I would however not be surprised if there was some pressure put on the tow company owner.
