Pack's Starting QB Out...Turnovers Big For NC State...Pack Defense Questionable

North Carolina newspaper The News & Observer is reporting that N.C. State quarterback Harrison Beck has been ruled out of Saturday's ACC game at Florida State because of a separated left shoulder. Beck, a sophomore, injured his shoulder in the third quarter of the Pack's 29-10 loss to Louisville on Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium. Junior Daniel Evans, who came in for Beck, is listed as the starter for the FSU game. Evans started the Pack's season opener against Central Florida but was replaced by Beck late in the first half.

NC State (1-4, 0-2 ACC)had five turnovers Saturday -- three fumbles, two interceptions -- in a 29-10 loss to Louisville and now has 18 in five games. The Wolfpack is tied for 118th and last among Bowl Subdivision teams in turnover margin and 116th in turnovers with six fumbles and 12 interceptions. Oops!

The Pack's defense has not been able to slow, much less stop, teams with good running games. Louisville had 247 rushing yards and gobbled up minutes of possession time. It was the fifth straight game that State -- 116th nationally in rushing defense -- has allowed 200 or more yards.
