The Noles must love the number three. This weekend three in-state high-school stars verbally committed to FSU. As already announced, Okeechobee star running back Lonnie Pryor committed to the Noles and shortly thereafter Miami Norland athlete Xavier Rhodes gave his verbal commit also to the Seminoles.
According to some scouting reports, Rhodes is an unseen talent that was the top receiver at Norland High as a junior. As a junior, Rhodes caught 20 passes for 271 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 68 yards and one touchdown.
Not long after, Miami Archbishop Carroll receiver Rodney Smith announced that he had committed to FSU also. Smith is a 6-foot-5, 205-pound receiver who had offers from Tennessee, Auburn, Boston College and Wake Forest.
According to reports about Smith, he is comparable to Greg Carr in that he can be a huge mismatch as a redzone target with his great natural size, extremely long arms and his ability to attack the football at its highest point. He had 30 receptions for 627 yards (20.9 average) and seven touchdowns in 2007 and reportedly runs a 4.5 40-yard dash and has a 40-inch vertical.
