The 2005 Florida State football team celebrated their ACC Championship season at the end of the year dinner, held Saturday, January 28th. Here is first in a series of 2005 winners:
Newcomer of the Year ( Defense )- Tony Carter
Freshman Year (2005): A speedy redshirt freshman who stepped into the starting lineup when All-American Antonio Cromartie was injured in the preseason...started all 13 games for the Seminoles...led the team in pass break-ups with 12...eighth on the team in tackles with 41 including four tackles for loss...was named Sporting News Freshman All-American second team...was named first team ACC All-Freshman by Sporting News...had a career-high seven tackles in his first collegiate game against Miami...totaled six tackles and had the only interception by an FSU cornerback in the Orange Bowl against Penn State.
