The Miami Hurricanes have a short week as they prepare for No. 20 Texas A&M on Thursday night after their 23-9 victory against Florida International on Saturday.
The Aggies are ranked fifth nationally in rushing yards per game (296 a game), but are ranked 75{+t}{+h} in total defense (383 yards a game). Texas A&M posted easy victories against Montana State and UL-Monroe and defeated Fresno State in triple overtime, all home games.
For the second time in three weeks, Boston College’s Matt Ryan and North Carolina’s T.J. Yates headlined the Atlantic Coast Conference’s weekly honors list Monday.
Ryan, a senior quarterback, was named the offensive back of the week after throwing for a career-high 435 yards and a touchdown in a 24-10 win at Georgia Tech on Saturday. Ryan, who completed 30 of 44 passes, also won the honor after throwing for 408 yards and five scores in the opening win against Wake Forest.Yates was named rookie of the week after his performance in a 22-20 loss to Virginia. The redshirt freshman completed 25 of 38 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns.
Along with its first ranking in both national polls, USF has generated enough interest to have Saturday's game against North Carolina inserted onto ESPN. The game was originally not scheduled to appear on national television, but after USF's upset of Auburn, ESPN2 picked it up. Then the network announced a switch Monday, moving West Virginia-East Carolina to ESPN2.
