Starting sophomore fullback Marcus Sims fractured his right ankle when tailback Antone Smith hit him from behind midway through the first quarter. Starting senior right tackle David Overmyer limped off the field early in the second quarter when quarterback Xavier Lee hit his left knee from behind. Overmyer didn't return and said he sprained his MCL.
