The Seminoles held their first spring practice in full pads Friday afternoon, working out for 14 periods on the practice fields and then moving over to Doak Campbell Stadium for a half-scrimmage. Freshman tailback Russell Ball had the play of the day when he took a toss left, broke several tackles, and then reversed field for a 43-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Drew Weatherford was a perfect 9-for-9 for 65 yards in the scrimmage with one touchdown to Greg Carr in goalline drills. The first offense was 3-for-4 in goalline with the other scores coming from Jamaal Edwards and Antone Smith on three-yard runs. Freshman safety Myron Rolle also had in impressive scrimmage with an interception, a tackle for loss on a reverse, and a fumble recovery in goalline. Defensive tackle Kendrick Stewart had a pair of sacks and a tackle for loss while Paul Griffin added two tackles behind the line of scrimmage. FSU will take the weekend off and then return to practice Monday afternoon.
