Tight end is another spot in which FSU coaches are going to have to find a new starter after the graduation of co-starters Matt Henshaw and Donnie Carter. Coach John Lilly will have just one scholarship tight end this spring in redshirt freshman Charlie Graham. Backing up Graham will be walk-ons Edwin Pierre and Jonathan Person. Lilly will have more to work with when Brandon Warren and Caz Piurowski, two of the top prep tight ends in the nation, report in August.
"Charlie Graham and a couple of walk-ons will work at tight end in the spring," said Bowden. "The potential once the two freshmen get here is as probably as good as we've had. These kids have got talent. We've got to count them in because of our lack of numbers."
Observations/Recommendations:For some reason, the coaching staff has not put very much emphasis on the tight end position. By the way, tight ends are allowed to catch the ball. Really. FSU needs to make the tight end part of the offense as such teams as Miami has done with success.
