With only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in Drew Weatherford and Xavier Lee, the Seminoles needed to sign two quarterbacks for the Class of 2006 for depth reasons. One of the quarterbacks signed, D’Vontrey Richardson, was considered by Scout.com to be the top athlete in the state of Georgia.
“There’s a reason why he’s the No.1 player in Georgia,” Scout.com Southeast Recruiting Analysis Scott Kennedy said. “He can play quarterback, safety, wide receiver and he’s even big enough to play linebacker in college. However, with his arm I think he has what it takes to play quarterback at Florida State.”
