    Duke Hires Special Teams Coach

Boston College named Jeff Comissiong and Ben Sirmans as assistant football coaches under new head coach Jeff Jagodzinski.

Comissiong will coach the defensive line, a job he held last season at Harvard. In the previous eight years, he was an assistant coach at Maine, the last four handling the defensive line.

Sirmans will handle the running backs. Last season, he coached running backs and special teams at Michigan State, where he was an assistant the past two years. He had spent the previous five seasons as running backs coach at Kent State.

Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey said Friday he has hired John Bond, the offensive coordinator at Northern Illinois University, to head the Yellow Jackets' offense.
Gailey said Bond will call the offensive plays and will also coach Georgia Tech's quarterbacks.

The 2006 season was the first year Gailey allowed former offensive coordinator Patrick Nix to call the offensive plays. Nix was named the University of Miami's offensive coordinator on Jan. 19.

Last season, Danny Pearman reveled in the struggles of Duke's special teams.

Next season, Pearman will revile such struggles.

Less than three months after North Carolina -- where Pearman coached last season -- blocked an extra point to seal a 45-44 victory over the Blue Devils, Pearman has signed on to coach special teams and tight ends for the Blue Devils.
