Paul Narrows His Choices To Only Two Schools

Brandon Paul, local WR sensation from Lincoln High School, has narrowed his choices down to only two schools-FSU or Auburn. He will not announce his choice until National Signing Day on Feb. 7. He is the 15th ranked WR in the nation.

Analysis of Paul: Paul is a special overall talent with the versatility to become a potential difference maker at various positions on both sides of the ball and in the kicking game as a returner. It is dificult to give him a true position, but he will be a running back or wide receiver on offense or a safety with cornerback skills on defense. He has adequate size and is a lean, muscular, quick-twitch athlete with great speed and quickness. On offense, he is a space player at his best as a perimeter runner. He shows impressive initial quickness and burst through the line of scrimmage. Possesses explosive top-end speed. He shows good vision and patience as a runner. Will consistently see the backside lane opening up and shows the change-of-direction skills to exploit it. He is elusive and will make defenders miss in space. He runs hard and will break more tackles than his smallish frame indicates. Add to this a pair of soft hands and you have Marshall Faulk-type versatility to create mismatches in the open field. On defense, foot quickness is outstanding and ability to close is impressive. Shows great short-area burst and the speed to catch up if out of position. Can get from the hash to the sideline in a hurry. He is pesky and will scrap versus the run, but this is not his strong suit at this time. Is a huge threat as a returner and can exploit a tiny crease to take it the distance. Is decisive, can reverse field, cut against the grain and is fun to watch. Size is just marginal for a full-time running back, and durability could be an issue until he adds bulk and strength to his frame. Overall, Paul can be a "hold your breath" type player. Could get on the field very early in a variety of roles if he can handle the mental jump.
