Noles Commitment List Has Some Surprises

Now that National Signing Day is over, the Noles will begin mat conditioning drills soon and then spring practice in March.

FSU signed nineteen recruits on NSD and may have a shot at a couple more. So what things can be gleaned from the commitment list?

Biggest Surprise:The biggest surprise was the one that FSU did not sign. Marvin Austin, the number one defensive player in the country had been heavily leaning to FSU until recently. Instead he signed with North Carolina and left everyone wondering why.

Need Not Filled:As John Lilly stated, FSU wanted to sign at least one tailback and got none. There still may be the possibility that Noel Devine could sign with the Noles but he comes with an awful lot of baggage.

The Big Ones Up Front:The Noles needed offensive linemen and they got seven in this recruiting class.

The "Sorry Son" Recruit: Wide receiver Markish Jones announced this morning that he was going to Clemson but by the afternoon had signed with the Noles. That one has to hurt Tommy Bowden. In addition big offensive lineman Antwane Greenlee had been a Georgia commitment and today instead signed with the Noles. Ouch, Mark Richt.
