Florida State senior offensive lineman Matt Meinrod learned today that the NCAA has denied his appeal for a sixth year of eligibility. The decision was not unexpected for Meinrod, who had considered the appeal a long shot
Meinrod, a starting offensive guard and one of the team's best leaders, dislocated his left ankle and suffered a fractured fibula against Wake Forest and missed the remainder of the 2005 season. Meinrod suffered a season-ending torn ACL in the 2004 season opener against Miami.
