Sanford defensive lineman Doug "Bud" Thacker has had a change of heart -- as expected.
Thacker, who had originally committed to Virginia Tech, has told both Scout.com and Rivals.com today that he will sign with Florida State.
Thacker's commitment pushes the Seminoles' total to 19 heading into National Signing Day on Feb. 1.
Thacker, who grew up a fan of FSU, visited the Seminoles last weekend. FSU coach Bobby Bowden has scheduled an in-home visit with Thacker on Friday. Thacker, who had a strong performance in the CaliFlorida Bowl in California earlier this month, said his change of heart was easy to explain.
“It felt more like home and it’s a lot closer to my home,” Thacker told Scout.com.
“I’ve always been a Seminole and I couldn’t turn them down.”
Thacker is the third defensive lineman to commit to the Seminoles, joining Paul Griffin and Ryan McMahon.
FSU's commitment list includes defensive tackle Callahan Bright, who had attended Hargrave Military Academy and is expected to enroll in a Division-II school due to academics.
