    Tuesday Practice Report

The Florida State football team returned to the practice fields for an eight period session (approximately 45 minutes) in shorts in preparation for Saturday's game against Troy at home in Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles participated in light stretching before hitting the practice fields less than 24 hours after their 13-10 victory over Miami in the Orange Bowl.

The Seminoles have only four days to prepare for their home opener against Troy which is scheduled to begin Saturday at 6 p.m. The game can be seen on a pay per view basis by contacting your local cable operating company. The four-day preparation period is the shortest of the season and the second time in two years the team has faced the same situation. After defeating Miami on Labor Day night in 2005, the Seminoles returned to defeat The Citadel, 62-10, with only four days of practice.

    * Florida State is ranked No. 9 in both of the major college football polls which were released on Monday. The Seminoles moved up from 11th in the Associated Press poll and 10th in the ESPN/USA Today poll.

    * Florida State middle linebacker Buster Davis was named the ACC Defensive Linemen of the Week. The senior recorded a game-high 12 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss, in the Seminoles 13-10 road win at No. 12 Miami Monday evening. The 5-10, 246-pound senior from Daytona Beach, Fla., had two sacks of Miami quarterback Kyle Wright and was responsible for 36 of the Hurricanes' 58 yards in losses.

    * Florida State linebacker Geno Hayes was named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week. He made a career-high eight tackles in Monday's 13-10 road win at No. 12 Miami. The 6-2, 211-pound sophomore from Greenville, Fla., had 2.5 tackles for loss for 14 yards in the third quarter as the Seminoles overcame a 10-3 halftime deficit.

    * Florida State place kicker Gary Cismesia was named the ACC Special Teams Player of the Week. He made both of his field goal attempts in Monday's 13-10 win at No. 12 Miami, including a game-winning 33-yarder with 8:01 left to play. The Parrish, Fla., junior gave Florida State a 3-0 lead with a 37-yarder on the Seminoles' first drive of the game. The last time a Florida State place kicker did not miss a field goal in a game against Miami was in 1999.

    Quotes

Head Coach Bobby Bowden "The thing this week is rush, rush, rush. You get in last night at 4 o'clock or 5 o'clock and we don't have the film on Troy yet because they won't give us theirs until we give them ours. So, we get them ours today so we get theirs today - and the coaches don't have it yet. And we have to break down all that dadgum film and you got Wednesday and Thursday to practice. So it's really a fast week. We've gotta do a lot of studying in a short amount of time. Whereas you had all spring and all fall to work on Miami you've only got a couple of day's to work for Troy. Everything is going to urgent, urgent in that regard.

I think we came out in pretty good health from that ballgame. I told they kids today, "I said hey, men, we are exactly like we were last year. We are 1-0. We are no better than we were a year ago. We beat Miami last year; beat them this time so we have to keep their minds on what we are doing."

Wide Receiver De'Cody Fagg "We came out here and went over a couple of mistakes that we committed last night. Everyone was out here smiling and having a good time. If we would have lost it wouldn't have been that way. It would probably be much more serious. It's good to see everyone out here smiling and getting ready to play Troy. It's going to be a short week for us so we have to focus in and key in early and get prepared because we only have two days to practice and get ready for them.
