Bama Player In Trouble And Callaway Unhappy

Alabama star cornerback Simeon Castille was arrested early Sunday on a disorderly conduct charge. Tuscaloosa police said Castille was arrested in an entertainment district near campus. He was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail and Coach Nick Saban said he didn't have all the facts of the case.

Castille was one of the top defensive backs in the Southeastern Conference last season. He led Alabama with five interceptions and three recovered fumbles.

The University of Colorado said Sunday that freshman wide receiver Josh Smith was hospitalized for observation Saturday evening after bruising his kidney in the scrimmage Saturday. He is out indefinitely. Also, linebacker Marcus Burton was declared academically ineligible for the season.

UAB head football coach Neil Callaway didn't mince words when asked his impression of his team's second fall scrimmage Saturday at Legion Field.

"I was a little disappointed with the defense, to be honest with you," said Callaway. "I didn't see a lot of the guys on the defense flying around, playing with any purpose. They're just kind of out there going through the motions."
