Ranking The ACC Atlantic Division Teams: Boston College

Boston College is one of four ACC teams with new coaches for 2007. New head coach Jeff Jagodzinski insists that he would not have left the NFL for any other college coaching job. The 43-year-old Jagodzinski left his job as offensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers for the head coaching job with the Eagles.

For a new coach, a great asset is to have a QB that is tested. He has that in Matt Ryan. The best thing we've got going for us is our quarterback," Jagodzinski said. "Whatever league, whatever level you're playing in, you have to have that to be successful. Matt gives me a lot more options." Ryan threw for an ACC-best 2,942 yards last season, completing 61.6 percent of his passes for 15 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions.

The Eagles lose only 6 starters (just two on defense) led by All- America guard Josh Beekman and clutch receiver Tony Gonzalez on offense and strong safety Ryan Glasper and cornerback Larry Anam on defense. The team took a hit when nerve damage will sideline one of the team's best players, the versatile linebacker/fullback Brian Toal, for the season.

Perhaps the Eagle's biggest obstacle to winning the Atlantic Division is their road schedule. They have to play Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Clemson on the road.

FSU It's Time Ranking Prediction: Boston College is a solid team and will challenge for the Atlantic Division title. QB could be the deciding factor when you compare Ryan to Drew Weatherford. I am predicting a #2 ranking for the Eagles in 2007 but will not be surprised if they end up on top.
