    NC State Names QB And Miami To Announce QB Today


    Junior Daniel Evans,the quarterback for two N.C. State comeback wins and seven consecutive losses to end last season, has won back his starting job.

    First-year coach Tom O'Brien had opened competition for the job to redshirt freshman Justin Burke and Nebraska transfer Harrison Beck, but the school announced Monday that Evans has earned back the job. Evans was 163-for-307 for 1,843 yards last season. He threw six touchdown passes and 11 interceptions.

    University of Miami head coach Randy Shannon announced that he will unveil his starting lineup Tuesday along with the answer to the quarterback riddle that has plagued the team.

    With the 2007 college football season set to begin, 65 players have been added to the Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List, including Georgia Tech linebacker Philip Wheeler. The 38th annual Rotary Lombardi Award onors the top lineman in college football. Wheeler, a senior from Columbus, Ga., led the Yellow Jackets with 9.0 sacks and 14.5 trackles for loss. He and the Jackets will open the season this Saturday at Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. ET.
