    Scouting Duke

QB Thaddeus Lewis and WR Eron Riley have combined for 10 touchdown passes over the last two seasons, making them one of seven quarterback-receiver combinations in Duke history to reach double figures. The all-time leaders with 16 are Ben Bennett-Chris Castor (1980-82) and Steve Sladen-Doug Green (1985-87). Sladen also threw 11 touchdown passes to Clarkston Hines, and Bennett had 10 scoring strikes to Cedric Jones. Hines also caught 20 TD passes thrown by Anthony Dilweg.

Senior WR Jomar Wright, who leads Duke with 29 receptions, is two short of hitting the 100 mark for his career. Wright ranks fourth in the league among active receivers in both number of receptions and receiving yards (1,471) for his career.

SCOUTING THE OFFENSE: Duke continues to bring up the rear in the conference in the running game, averaging only 67 yards a game on the ground. But the Blue Devils are producing 232 yards a game passing, which ranks fifth in the league ahead of such traditional passing teams like Florida State and Miami. Riley and Wright are among the better receivers in the league, and QB Lewis seems to gain confidence with each outing.

SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: The Blue Devils not only have trouble generating a ground game, they also have trouble stopping the run. Only North Carolina State, which yields 204 yards a game, gives up more rushing yards than Duke (166) in the league.
