FSU Gets In 21 Periods In Preparation For NC State

    FSU Sports Information Excerpts:

It looked like the Seminole football team would suffer through another abbreviated practice on Wednesday. With menacing skies threatening to send the team inside, Florida State (3-1, 0-1) was able to make it through all 21 periods. The team did get some rain but it served more to cool them off then send them inside. FSU worked out in shells as the team continued its preparations for NC State (1-4, 0-2).

Wednesday's practice began with specialty and then the team worked in position groups.

After a few periods of squaring off versus scout teams, the starters came together for 7-on-7 and pass rush.

Everette Brown carried the momentum from the Alabama game into pass rush as he got to the QB three times. Both nose tackles, Paul Griffin and Kendrick Stewart, had multiple wins. Neefy Moffett and Emmanuel Dunbar also got by their blockers. Evan Bellamy and Ryan McMahon recorded multiple wins for the offense. Shannon Boatman, Jack Claude and Rodney Hudson held their ground as well.

Both Xavier Lee and Drew Weatherford had highlights in 7-on-7. Lee connected with Greg Carr and then hit De'Cody Fagg for a TD. Weatherford and Joslin Shaw hooked-up on a completion and then Carr caught a Weatherford touchdown pass.

The defense dominated 11-on-11 Wednesday. Myron Rolle, Recardo Wright, Toddrick Verdell and Patrick Robinson all broke up passes. Both Alex Boston and Brown recorded sacks. Weatherford provided the offense with one highlight on a deep ball to Shaw. Preston Parker added another on a great run after catching a short pass.

Practice finished with 1:00 offense. Neither the first or second team produced a TD.

    Head Coach Bobby Bowden

"Practice was pretty good today. I didn't see any let-up, they worked hard and did what they're supposed to do."
