FSU Gets In First Of Two Full Practices For Wake

    FSU Sports Information Excerpts:

Football coaches never like a short week especially when the defending conference champions are the ones sitting there at the end of the week. That is what the 21st-ranked Seminoles are facing though. FSU got the first of its two full practices in on Monday. The team went 22 periods as they started to install the game plan for a very difficult Demon Deacon squad.

As they always do, the Seminoles worked on special teams, in position groups and against the scout teams.

Russell Ball, Antone Smith, Jamaal Edwards and Seddrick Holloway all had nice runs during inside drills.

In 1-on-1 Christian Ponder hit De'Cody Fagg, Preston Parker, Joslin Shaw, Richard Goodman and went deep to Damon McDaniel. Jamie Robinson, Korey Mangum and Michael Ray Garvin all recorded pass break-ups.

The offense was very sharp in skel. Xavier Lee Connected with Caz Piurowski and then hit Greg Carr, Parker and Fagg with deep balls. Carr also hauled in a mid-range pass and turned it into a big gainer. Drew Weatherford went deep to Parker and also hit Goodman and Rod Owens who made great runs after the catch. Defensively Tony Carter and Roosevelt Lawson both broke up passes.

The defense dominated pass rush. Paul Griffin, Everette Brown, Justin Mincey and Neefy Moffett all got to the QB twice. Alex Boston and Kendrick Stewart also recorded sacks. For the offense, Rodney Hudson won a couple individual battles and Shannon Boatman and Ryan McMahon both recorded a win.

In 11-on-11 Lee completed passes to Parker, Shaw and a deep ball to Fagg.Weatherford hit McDaniel a couple of times. Antone Smith broke a nice run. Neither unit was able to score in 1:00 thanks to some nice defensive plays including an Anthony Houllis PBU and an Ochuko Jenije interception.

    Head Coach Bobby Bowden
On the Wake Forest loss and who has it stuck in their mind:

"Offense, how about defense, all of them. I hope kickers and defense and offense, all of them stuck in their mind, they only got 30 points. That was the worst part about the season right there, 30-0, every other game you could have won. I never talk revenge, that don't work, that don't work. You go out tell them I'm gonna revenge, heck you better whip them, that's what you better do. Revenge, payback and all that stuff is out the window."
