Head To Head Matchup: Wide Receiver

Wolfpack wide Receiver Darrell Blackman is a 5'10" senior from Williamsport, Pa. Blackman not only is a wide receiver but also returns kicks and punts. He leads the wide receivers with 276 receiving yards and 1 TD. In the last game against Louisville, Blackman had 44 receiving yards and no TDs. He is also a kickoff and punt returner. For 2007 season, he is averaging 13,8 yards in punt returns with a long of 57 yards and no TD. In kick returns, Blackman is averaging 24.2 yards and 1 TD. His long was for 99 yards.

Blackman ranks first in Wolfpack history in career kickoff return average with a 28.63 mark, his 1,145 yards in kickoff returns is the fourth-best mark ever by an NC State player. He also boasts 542 yards in career punt returns, the fifth-best mark in school history, his 9.5 career average is tied for 10th in the record books.Blackman's 2,742 career all-purpose yards ranks 14th on the NC State career list.

Last week I asked the question who would be the "go to" receiver for the Noles. As it turned out, it was De'Cody Fagg. Despite his dropped balls, Fagg did score 2 TDs. With Lee as quarterback, Fagg now may be the "go to" guy for the Noles. He is better at route running and is faster than Carr. Now if he can correct the dropped balls.

Fagg at 6'3" is a big target and has through the last four games 160 yards receiving and 2 TDs. One of those TDs was a 70 yarder against Bama. He will be challenged by not only Carr but Preston Parker and Richard Goodman which is a good thing.
