In what was being characterized as "Gut Check Saturday" in college football, FSU defeated NC State 27-10. Those who were looking for the Noles to play a complete game were disappointed once again. Chuck Amato must have forgotten to give the Noles any inside information on the NC State team. At least that's the way it looked in the first half. FSU's defense couldn't seem to stop all the flares and screens that the Wolfpack ran successfully in the first half. Once again, penalties by the Noles continue to be a problem. In the second half after a lightning delay, the defense looked like a Nole defense. Gary Cismesia gets no more love from me as he went 2 for 2.

Another positive: This is the first time we've scored on the first possession since... well, I can't think that far back. Duke, pre-Rix perhaps?
Florida State touchdown since Tony Carter returned an interception for a touchdown against Virginia on Nov. 6, 2006, just 1:14 into the game. But you are correct. FSU has not done that lately. That is good sign.
