FSU Sports Information Excerpts:
For the third straight day the FSU football team took the practice field in shells as the squad continues its preparations for Miami. The Seminoles worked out for 22 periods and just as they did the day before, spent a large majority of the day focusing on the Hurricanes as they worked versus scout teams.
After specialty, the team spent a most of the day focusing on Miami.
Pass skel was down and distance and Xavier Lee and Richard Goodman had a nice rhythm going. Lee hit Goodman with a short pass that the junior turned into a big gain and then the two connected on a deep ball. Lee also found Carr during the drill. Drew Weatherford was involved in the highlight play of the day as Bert Reed made a spectacular one-handed grab on a Weatherford ball. Defensively both Jamie Robinson and Darius McClure broke up passes.
In pass rush, both lines had their moments. For the offense David Overmyer, Tyler Graves, Brandon Davis, Will Furlong and Daron Rose all held their ground. On the other side Letroy Guion beat his man on three occasions, Paul Griffin and Letroy Guion got a couple wins a piece. Neefy Moffett and Justin Mincey also got to the QB.
11-on-11 was fairly uneventful. Lee had the biggest play of the day on a scramble. Defensively Korey Mangum had a tackle for loss and Alex Boston and Toddrick Verdell split a sack.
In the 1:00 drill (which was actually :45) Richard Goodman caught a pass that he broke to the sideline and took to the house and Everette Brown had a big play hitting the QB's arm and causing an incompletion.
WR Greg Carr:
On what concerns him most about Miami:
"Their defensive backs are really good, they play good man coverage. The Miami defense always causes problems. They're just a speedy defense, very athletic. Just all around they're pretty good."
