    Cardiac Cavaliers Win Again...Canes Lose In Orange Bowl...NC Beats The Turtles


    Connor Barth kicked three field goals and T.J. Yates threw a touchdown pass to Hakeem Nicks to help North Carolina snap a two-game losing streak with a 16-13 victory over Maryland on Saturday.Barth is now 13-for-14 this season and moved within four field goals of Josh McGee's school record of 52 career field goals.

    The Cardiac Cavaliers did it again. Mikell Simpson ran 1 yard for a touchdown with 2:18 to play Saturday and Virginia beat No. 21 Wake Forest 17-16, the Cavaliers' third one-point victory in four games. The winning play was identical to the one Simpson scored on with 16 seconds to play against Maryland, providing an 18-17 victory two weeks ago. Wake Forest (6-3, 4-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) drove to Virginia's 30 in the closing seconds, but Sam Swank, one of the best kickers in the ACC, missed a 47-yard field goal attempt with 2 seconds left. He had made 13 of 14 field goal attempts before missing his last two tries against Virginia.

    Steven Hauschka's fourth field goal, a 42-yarder in overtime, lifted surging North Carolina State to a 19-16 win over Miami on Saturday. Hauschka made three field goals in the final quarter as the Wolfpack (4-5, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) overcame a 13-7 deficit to win their third straight game - and give coach Tom O'Brien his first-ever win at the Orange Bowl.

    Clemson fans may have been thinking they were in for yet another uninspired visit to Duke. For a while, they were right - until the offense finally gave the Tigers some breathing room. Almost immediately after that, the defense and the special teams also got into the scoring act. Cullen Harper's short scoring run set off a momentum-shifting burst of 16 points in 39 seconds that carried No. 25 Clemson to a 47-10 rout of the Blue Devils on Saturday.

    On Thursday night, Virginia Tech bounced back from its shocking collapse against Boston College.One week after the No. 11 Hokies squandered a 10-point lead to BC in the final minutes, Sean Glennon threw two long touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead Virginia Tech to a 27-3 win over Georgia Tech on Thursday night.
