Canes Hurt On Defensive Front...Miami Penalties...Miami Has Uphill Battle

Miami 's defensive front is hurting. Going into the game against Georgia Tech on Saturday, Miami was without linebackers Glenn Cook, Romeo Davis and Colin McCarthy, and defensive tackles Antonio Dixon, Josh Holmes. Another defensive tackle, Dwayne Hendricks, was injured Saturday.

Sound familiar? Miami was penalized eight times for 78 yards, some of them costly. In the first half, UM had a holding call (tight end Chris Zellner) and illegal block (receiver Sam Shields) on consecutive plays, negating a 12-yard rush by Graig Cooper on the first play.

The loss to Geogia Tech on Saturday was Miami's third consecutive loss to Georgia Tech (4-3, 2-3) and second consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference loss, and it puts the Hurricanes (4-3, 1-2) in an uphill conference battle.
