    "The Chest" Knows

Chuck Amato has gotten more press this week than Britney Spears. Ok, maybe that is an exaggeration but everyone wants to know how he feels about the impending game against his alma mater and the school that fired him last year.

"I love those kids up at North Carolina State," said Amato, who left FSU only for the chance to be the head coach at his alma mater. "Like you can't imagine. I recruited them all." Amato was the first Atlantic Coast Conference head coach to beat Bowden and the Seminoles in Tallahassee. He and the Wolfpack did it with a 50-44 double-overtime dogfight in 2003.

Amato was living proof of the old adage but what have you done for me today. N.C. State fired him last year and replaced him with Boston College's Tom O'Brien, even though Amato led the Wolfpack to five bowl games, the school's first 11-win season and some of the biggest victories in program history. So much for loyalty and institutional memory.

He says he holds no grudges toward NC State. But wouldn't you like to see "The Chest" tackle the clothed NC State mascot Mr. Wuf and pummel him. Ok, maybe not pummel him but at least chest pound him. As Amato says, most of the people at NC State knows what he did for the program. And of course Chuck knows.
