Saturday's game against NC Sate will pit two quarterbacks who are replacing their starting quarterbacks. In the case of NC State,it is due to injury. Junior Daniel Evans started the Pack's season-opener against Central Florida but was replaced by Harrison Beck late in the first half and has only been used as a backup the past four games. Evans at 6'1" and 191 pounds started for the Wolfpack in nine of the 12 games for 2006. He threw for three touchdowns in the 24-20 win over Florida State. Evans also posted the 15th-best single season passing total in school history with 1,843 yards, even though he was the starter in just nine of the 12 games. For the 2007 season,he has 286 yards passing, 3 TDs, and 2 interceptions.
On the Florida State side is Xavier Lee who replaced Drew Weatherford in the Bama game to lead the Noles to a 21-14 win. Lee on Monday was named the starting quarterback and hopefully this will put an end to the quarterback controversy. In the Bama game, the 6'4" 234 pound Lee from Daytona Beach had 224 yards passing, 2 TDs, and 1 interception. In addition, he ran for an additional 59 yards. In 2006, Lee saw limited action when Weatherford was hurt and had 885 yards passing, 7 TDs, and 5 interceptions. Lee brings an added dimension to quarterback for the Noles with his ability to scramble and run with the ball.
