Head To Head Matchup: Field Goal Kicker

Wake Forest field Goal kicker Sam Swank has a pretty impressive resume. In 2006, Swank was named 1st Team All-American by Sports Illustrated. He was also voted the ACC Championship Game's Most Valuable Player, selected 1st Team All-ACC placekicker by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association, and was a four time recipient of the ACC Specialist of the Week award . He also tied the NCAA record for most 50-yard field goals in a game, making three at NC State. He also set 11 new school records during his sophomore campaign and broke his own school record for most field goals in a season (23). In 2006, the 6'2" sophomore from Jacksonville, Florida Fletcher High School had a 77.8% completion percentage rate. He kicked 7 field goals from more than fifty yards and made five of them. His longest field goal was for fifty-three yards. In 2007, Swank is four for four with his longest field goal coming from forty-six yards.

And on the Nole side we have Gary Cismesia. In 2006, Cismesia was the fifth leading scorer as a kicker in the conference and ranked fifth in the ACC in field goals made (14) and field goals made per game (1.1). He had a 64.7% completion percentage rate in 2006. In 2007, the 5'11" senior from Parrish, Florida has made eight out of eleven field goals with his longest being forty yards. In the last game against NC State, Cismesia missed two field goals.Nole fans had better wish that the game does not come down to a Cismesia field goal. He has not been able to successfully kick field goals when needed.
