Maryland QB Status Uncertain...Duke Loses DE...Shannon Has Strong Message

Maryland quarterback Jordan Steffy could miss at least a month from the effects of a concussion, coach Ralph Friedgen said. Steffy, who has yet to be cleared by the Terrapins' medical personnel, was injured Sept. 29 at Rutgers. Steffy also suffered a concussion in a 2004 game at Virginia Tech. The Noles play Maryland at home on November 17.

Duke defensive end Patrick Bailey, one of the ACC's sack leaders, likely is out for the season after suffering a knee injury in Saturday's loss to Wake Forest, coach Ted Roof said Tuesday. That made Bailey the latest starter to go down for an extended period for the Blue Devils (1-5, 0-3 ACC), who face No. 12 Virginia Tech this weekend. FSU plays Duke at home on October 27.

Randy Shannon had a very, very strong message to his team after Tuesday's practice. "It is not acceptable to lose at the University of Miami," he shouted to his team as they were on one knee around their head coach, who was standing and pointing adamantly at his team. The Noles take on the Hurricanes at home on October 20.
