Head To Head Matchup: Wide Receiver

Sophomore wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey is the Terps leading receiver with 558 yards and 1 TD. The 6'2" 205 lb. receiver is the go to guy for the Terps having caught 37 passes which is nearly twice what any other Terp receiver has caught. Hayward-Bey is known for his blazing speed and his 40 time of 4.23 in 2006 set the school record among WRs. In 2006, he led the Terps with 45 receptions setting a school freshman record with 694 receiving yards. In the Terps win over BC, he had 75 receiving yards and 0 TD. Last season, he caught four passes for 18 yards against the Noles. The second leading Terp receiver in passing yards is 6'3" junior Isaiah Williams with 220 yards and 15 catches. He has 0 TDs on the year and only caught one ball in the BC game for 45 yards.

The guy that has the most receiving TDs for the Terps is senior tight end Jason Goode who has 3 TDs on the year. In the last game against BC, the 6'3" Goode had 56 yards and 2 TDs in the Terp's win. He has only caught the ball 12 times for 186 yards. He did have a 78 yard TD catch against Georgia Tech. Junior wide receiver Danny Oquendo who has the only other receiving TD for the Terps is out for the remiander of the season with a knee injury. Freshman RB Da'Rel Scott also has 1 TD which was a 57 yarder against BC for his only reception of the game.On the year, the Terps have 6 receiving TDs.

Key Stat: Maryland ranks #8 in the ACC in passing offense. FSU is ranked #10 in pass defense in the ACC.

On the others side, the Noles are clogged at the top in regard to the number of TDs of its top three receivers. De' Cody Fagg leads the pack with 4 TDs while Greg Carr and Preston Parker are tied at 3 each. Leading the Noles in reception yards is Greg Carr with 653 yards. Sixty-four reception yards separate Carr and the other two top receivers. Fagg has had three good games in the last three outings against Duke, Boston College, and Virginia Tech. He's had 134, 111, and 63 yards in the last three games for 2 TDs. Greg Carr has not been spectacular since coming back off his injury. He has no TDs, 7 catches, and is averaging 52 yards a game over the last two games. Preston Parker has been great all year with the exception of the Virginia Tech game when he had only one catch for 1 yard. There has been discussion at using him in the backfield this week because of injuries but my guess is that Parker is more important at receiver. On the year, the Noles have 13 receiving TDs.

Key Stats: FSU is ranked #3 in ACC in passing offense. Maryland is ranked #8 in ACC in pass defense.
