I have no evidence but from the number of "Let's Keep Bowden Forever" editorials I have read, my guess is that someone at FSU is cranking out spin material for those that are Bowden supporters. Their columns would be laughable if it wasn't for the fact that this affects the integrity of a football program.
I am amazed and saddened that there are those that say it is ok for Bobby Bowden to essentially run this program into the ground and stay for as long as he wants. Since when does a coach run the athletic department? I have discussed this before but it is worth repeating. There is a "cult of personality" for Bobby Bowden by many FSU fans that is very harmful and destructive. One man certainly does not make a program and one man does not transcend an entire program.
Here are some examples of the spin. Gary Shelton of the St. Pete Times says this, "Bowden isn’t up for re-election. He has earned the right to exit when he wants, and if every game between now and then is hard for the critics to watch, well, tough." Earned the right? I thought the divine right of kings was long gone.
Here's another gem from Doug Fernandes of the Herald-Tribune who states,"Fan barbarians. Booster barbarians. Carrying torches and pitchforks. Unable to rest until the embattled Florida State head football coach is spending his fall Saturdays on some distant golfing green." So fans and boosters are barbarians because they are concerned about the direction the program is headed?
So the spin can continue and the Bowden sycophants can sound their shrill trumpets but fans and booster's voices will not be drowned out. Not this time.

The thought and your writing of a spin by the University is absurd. Now I have heard it all. I can see how uneducated you are about football. Do us all a favor and go back to school, get an education, and come back to reality. You just might learn a few things. Oh yeah, Bobby is not running the program into the ground and to suggest so is your way of spinning a story that isn't there. Nice try, but it won't work.
Well, if we win ten games next year that will be great and I will have the same criticism. My guess is that we will not have the same coaching staff.
You are very naive if you do not think universities and athletic department's spin their issues. They spin their players for the Heisman. They have pr people like any major corporation. You don't think that they have been talking to reporters and others spinning their side of this story?
What won't work is for sycophants who have no life and are obsessed with a man to try and silence those that truly care about the program.
Won't work.
If you truly care about the program you would know that our production went down when Richt left. It didn't go down because of Bobby. He did hire his son and he is being stubborn about the situation, but he is not deliberately running the program into the ground. It is more than the coaching and if you cannot see that, then maybe you are not watching the games. Changes need to be made, but saying he is running it into the ground is malicious and incorrect. If you are going to report news, don't put your ignorant spin on things. Liked the Schad report. Good site overall, but your take is completely wrong.
Thanks for the comments. I am not saying that Bowden is deliberately running the program into the ground. Whether it is deliberate or because of his refusal to make needed changes, that is what is happening. He has become arrogant and essentially is putting himself above the program. You are correct regarding Richt. His hiring of his son has been a glaring mistake and Bowden refuses to recognize that. A program should not be held hostage by a coach that wil not make the needed changes.
Also, if you will look at the title of my blog, it was created because of the downward spiral of the program. I do a lot of news but I also interject my opinions which I clearly state as "My View."
