    O.C. Prospect: Chris Hatcher

Chris Hatcher, head football coach at Valdosta State in Georgia, is probably the most mentioned name to replace Jeff Bowden as offensive coordinator. However, Hatcher told The Valdosta Daily Times that he has not been contacted by Florida State.

Hatcher told the Times that “There is nothing for me to say.I have got a job here at Valdosta State and I am actively recruiting.”

Hatcher's record at Valdosta State is impressive. He led the Blazers to a 2004 Division II National Championship and has amassed a 76-12 record in his seven years at the helm of VSU. The Blazers have won four Gulf South Conference championships in Hatcher’s seven seasons, and also played for the national championship in 2002.

Hatcher uses the Air Raid offense, similar to the offenses run by Division I programs Texas Tech (coached by former VSU offensive coordinator Mike Leach) and New Mexico State (coached by former VSU head coach Hal Mumme).

Before being hired at VSU, Hatcher was an assistant at Kentucky for three years under Mumme. At Kentucky, Hatcher worked with future Cleveland Browns quarterback Tim Couch. Before going to Kentucky, Hatcher was an assistant at Central Florida, where he worked with Miami Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper.
