    FSU Begins Practicing For Alabama

    FSU Sports Information Excerpts:

After taking Monday night off, the Seminole football team returned to work on Tuesday with an 18 period practice in uppers. Most of the practice was spent working against Alabama scout teams. FSU has two weeks to prepare for the newly-ranked Crimson Tide (3-0). The game, labeled the River City Showdown, will take place in Jacksonville's Municipal Stadium.

    INJURY NOTE
An MRI of Maurice Harris' left knee revealed a sprain. The freshman, who plays on special teams, is expected to miss the Alabama game.

    PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS

While most of the day was spent working versus the scout teams, the Seminoles did work on pass rush, in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11. Here are the highlights:

In pass rush Paul Griffin and Neefy Moffett both got to the QB on more than one occasion. Budd Thacker, Emmanuel Dunbar and Kendrick Stewart also recorded sacks. For the offense, Daron Rose won three individual battles. Ryan McMahon, Rodney Hudson, Brandon Davis, Jacky Claude, Antwane Greenlee and Evan Bellamy also recorded wins.

In 7-on-7 Drew Weatherford connected with De'Cody Fagg twice and Richard Goodman once. Xavier Lee hit Rod Owens twice, Bert Reed and Damon McDaniel. When the drill moved inside the red zone Lee hit Carr for a TD.

In 11-on-11, which was working in down and distance situations Weatherford hit Carr deep and also got a nice gainer on a dump pass to Antone Smith. Lee had connections with Seddrick Holloway and Carr. For the defense Griffin had a sack and Letroy Guion and Moffett recorded tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

    Head Coach Bobby Bowden:

"Had a pretty good practice, of course came out in shells. The guy we are concerned about most is (Charlie) Graham, we are working (Caz) Piurowski at end and tackle just in case he is not able to go but he's got this week to get well and that's the only question mark we have right now."
