FSU Self-Reports Academic Fraud To NCAA

According to reporter Steve Ellis of The Tallahassee Democrat, FSU has reported to the NCAA that nearly two dozen Florida State student-athletes from seven varsity sports, including 15 scholarship athletes, face punishment by the university and the NCAA for academic fraud. No football players who have competed in games this season are involved.

According to the article by Ellis,FSU President T.K. Wetherell sent the NCAA a letter on Tuesday detailing the initial results of a six-month investigation conducted by the university's Office of Audit Services.

In the letter to David Price, the NCAA's vice-president for enforcement services, Wetherell wrote that "approximately 130" student-athletes and "numerous" staff employees were interviewed as part of the investigation.

This could have major ramifications for FSU given the history of the NCAA in similar actions.
