Miami and NC State Continue Head Coaching Search

Rutgers football coach Greg Schiano has said no to the University of Miami's overtures for the head coaching vacancy. Miami is now focusing on Texas Tech coach Mike Leach who is considered an offensive innovator.

Among the possible candidates for the NC State head coaching vacancy is David Cutcliffe (Tenn.) and Jimbo Fisher from LSU. Others in the mix are Paul Johnson (head coach, Navy), Norm Chow (offensive coordinator, Tennessee Titans), Steve Logan (offensive coordinator, NFL Europe's Rhein Fire) and Mike Sherman (assistant head coach/ offense, Houston Texans).

Boston College's Josh Beekman has been awarded the 2006 Jacobs Blocking Trophy, Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced today.

The Jacobs Blocking Trophy has been awarded annually since 1953 to the player voted the most outstanding blocker in the ACC by a poll of the league's head coaches and defensive coordinators. The trophy is given in memory of William P. Jacobs, who served as president of Presbyterian College from 1935 to 1945.
