Terry Grant ran 24 times for 173 yards and two touchdowns, and Alabama made Saban the latest coach to oversee the Crimson Tide's dominance of Vanderbilt with a 24-10 victory Saturday.Alabama defense came up with two sacks and a turnover in holding Vandy to 101 yards offense through three quarters. Vandy finished with 57 yards rushing and 232 yards total offense, well below its average of 351 yards last season. The Tide also held two-time All-SEC receiver Earl Bennett to four catches for 52 yards a week after he caught 13 passes for a school record 223 yards.
One week after overcoming a double-digit deficit to win, the Buffs fumbled away a double-digit lead to lose a game in which they were double-digit underdogs. It was the first game in CU history to begin at triple-digit temperatures (102 degrees). Arizona State overcame its sloppy start at Sun Devil Stadium and charged back to a 33-14 victory behind a stout defense and the playmaking of quarterback Rudy Carpenter.
Florida finished off its two-game preparation for SEC play with a resounding 59-31 victory over Troy Saturday night, jumping to a 49-7 halftime lead. Next up is Tennessee in The Swamp.
