    Bama Priorities,Meyer Undefeated,And Smack Talk

Football salaries will account for more than 10 percent of the Alabama athletics department's operating budget for the 2007-08 fiscal year. Roughly $7.3 million of the estimated $70 million operating budget presented to the University of Alabama system board of trustees is pegged to pay employees of the Crimson Tide football program. Alabama hired head coach Nick Saban in January with an eight-year deal worth an average of $4 million per season, making him the highest-paid coach in college football.

Since Gator head coach Urban Meyer has been at Florida, the Gators are undefeated (6-0) against their three biggest rivals — Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee. Both streaks will be on the line Saturday."Knowing Coach Meyer hasn't lost a home game definitely gives you a lot of confidence," sophomore quarterback Tim Tebow said. "And then beating the rivals gives you an extra sense of confidence."It's great going into a game like this with a team like Tennessee."

The Denver Post is talking some smack. "Here is the perfect scenario for CU to begin its football renaissance in earnest. Colorado is a 4-point underdog to the formerly mighty Seminoles, a long-proud dynasty that now smells of moldy decay. All the Buffs have to do is say: Nighty-night, Bobby Bowden. And how hard can that be? The 8 p.m. kickoff will be way past the 77-year-old Bowden's self-proclaimed bedtime."
